Sinclair Ang is the founder of JAZZ INC. Having taught Swing Dancing over one and a half decades, and two decades of dance experience, Sinclair Ang has also taught and performed in over 30 cities and 20 countries across Europe and Asia-Pacific, bringing his unique approach to the dance and music to scenes everywhere. He is no stranger to TV in Singapore as well, having appeared in documentaries and features on dance. In Singapore, Sinclair is also committed to working with youths, including working on the Jazz Kids for the past 11 years – children who sing jazz standards and dance authentic jazz steps. He has conducted workshops and given lecture-demonstrations to numerous Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions on Jazz dancing and the Music. He has also worked with youths at risk from Beyond Social Services, as well as helped young inmates as part of the National Youth Achievement Award. Sinclair also leads the Rhythmakers, who play jazz standards from the golden era of jazz, for dancers and listeners alike.
Jingyi is a passionate lindy hopper who believes in the joy and spontaneity of Lindy Hop. Trained originally in ballet, she began swing dancing in 2011, and is one of the most sought after follows in the scene. Based in Singapore, she teaches Lindy Hop regularly and has performed at a number of local and overseas Lindy Hop festivals, including Korea Lindy Hop Championships (South Korea), winning regional competitions, including Provence Swing Festival, HK Swing Festival and SEA Jam. Jingyi enjoys travelling for Lindy Hop, and always seeks to bring back new inspiration and fun to the local community.
Robert has been swing dancing since 2008, doing primarily Lindy Hop, but also Authentic Solo Jazz, Blues, and Balboa. Robert comes from a musical background with 20 years experience in guitar and 6 years on the drums. His knowledge of music structure and rhythms allows him to now express music with his feet and body in the dance, both on the dance floor, and on stage. Trained as a scientist, his approach to the dance is highly analytical, making him a fast learner, and natural teacher. He continues to seek inspiration and develops himself through learning from international teachers at workshops and training sessions.
Denise is the Artistic Director of Wings to Wings studio, and is a passionate lindy hopper who believes in the joy and spontaneity of the dance. She is trained as a ballerina (RAD Advanced and Teaching certification), but began swing dancing in 2014 and has since become the main teaching assistant to Sinclair Ang. Her many years of performing and teaching Ballet and children has made her a natural at picking up the dance, as well as taking to the role of instructor and performer very easily. She continues to develop herself through private classes with numerous international teachers to expand her understanding of the dance.
Amanda started Lindy Hop in 2014 and has trained under Sinclair Ang as a teacher and performer since 2016. A big part of Authentic Solo Jazz and Lindy Hop which she enjoys is its element of improvisation and the constant dialogue with the music and her partner. As an avid pianist, her knowledge of the music informs her dancing, allowing her to translate her understanding of the rhythms and form to her movement and students. Amanda is also the pianist of Sinclair and His Rhythmakers, the swing dance that plays tunes from the Swing Era for dancers
Zan is a passionate and eccentric swing dancer and the latest addition to Jazz Inc. Once a choreographer at her university’s swing dance club, she is now undergoing training with Sinclair to become an instructor. Despite being a relatively young dancer, having only started in 2015, Zan is swiftly becoming a dancer to be reckoned with, and has also performed and competed at various dance events.
Tessmin is a bubbly and warm dancer in the Lindy community. She fell in love with swing dancing when she was studying in London and started her Lindy journey with Swing Patrol. Ever since she moved back to Singapore, she has gained much experience with Jazz inc and is now undergoing training with Sinclair Ang to become an instructor. During socials, she is ever ready to introduce new swing dancers into the scene and make them feel at ease.
Pierre started dancing in 2014 in the USA, but only took it up seriously when he joined Jazz Inc in 2017, and has never looked back since. He is now training under Sinclair Ang to become a better dancer and an instructor. Passionate about the music, he rapidly fell in love with the dance form and all the community represented. He is constantly developing his dance by taking inspiration from Lindy Hop, Authentic Solo Jazz and Tap techniques and rhythms. Most importantly, Pierre loves interacting with people and making meaningful connections whether it is on or off the dance floor.
Chelsea started dancing at the age of 7 and has trained under Sandra Ho (Ballet), Sinclair Ang (Authentic Jazz and Swing), Zaki Ahmad (Modern and contemporary dance) and Amin Alifin (Waacking), among others over the next 2 decades. She has participated in numerous dance performances and competitions both locally and abroad since 2004 and has attained many achievements over the years. Recently in 2018, she clinched second runner-up at the World Championship Finals at United Dance Organisation (UDO) Glasgow with her crew, The Débutante, and has attained multiple Championship titles in the local dance competition, All Babes Cineleisure Dance since 2015. With her continual, growing passion for dance, Chelsea hopes to consistently train and expose herself to all that dance has to offer, while teaching and sharing her own style and what her mentors have taught her to the younger generations. She teaches various genres for Jazz Inc, including hip hop, contemporary, jazz, swing, for adults and kids.
Having over 15 years of training in Ballet, Sarah went on to expand her horizons to train with renowned instructors like Low Mei Yoke, Lionel Araya, and Sinclair Ang in Hip Hop, Jazz, Salsa, Lindy Hop, and the Charleston, thereby making her one of the most versatile dancers and instructors around. She has many years of performance experience as well, having performed for many events, including the Chingay parade and Youth Olymic Games, and has choreographed for several events, including ITE’s 20th Anniversary. She is now a contemporary dance, broadway, and street jazz instructor, specialising in teaching youths and children, teaching at O School and ITE CEMTA.
She teaches most of the kids programmes for JAZZ INC, in addition to all the non-authentic jazz workshops for all ages.
